Often people don't want to simply throw stuff away and would like to pass it on. This page is for suggestions about where you can take unwanted items to be reused and recycled.

Haringey Freecycle

The Haringey Freecycleâ„¢ group is open to all who want to "recycle"  something rather than throw it away. One main rule: everything posted must be free. Join the Freecycle community here

ReStore

ReStore collect used furniture, cookers and fridges which are subsequently supplied to people in need. All cookers and fridges are tested, refurbished and supplied with a 6 month guarantee. ReStore are based in Unit 18 Ashley Road, London, N17 9LJ, (020 8493 0900) www.restorecommunityprojects.org .

Haringey Council supports this venture through the free white goods collection service and the Reuse and Recycling Centres.

There are a number of options for unwanted IT equipment. The easiest way to get rid of a computer or monitor is to have it collected for free by Haringey Council by phoning 020 8885 7700 but this is only suitable if  you have a front garden to collect it from. It is not permitted to leave items on pavements to be taken away.

Electrical and electronic equipment can be taken to a local not-for-profit company called Maxitech.

Maxitech are based in the Chocolate Factory, 5 Clarendon Road, Wood Green London N22 6XJ

Haringey Council supports this venture by supplying Maxitech with IT equipment from the Reuse and Recycling Centres and the free white goods collection service. Obsolete IT equipment from the council's own departments is also delivered to Maxitech.

If your organisation wishes to work with Maxitech then you contact them directly:
